My name is Marie, I am 22 and I live in Rodez (Aveyron, France) but not for a long time.. I am moving to Provence soon :)
Do you have a training routine, or do you do it according to your current wishes? I do have a routine because my coach is giving me a plan of training every 15 days. Is giving me a plan with running, cycling, and musculation sessions. I have some PMA and VMA sessions, some endurance sessions, and stretching sessions for recuperation sometimes.
Cycling is a sport that requires resilience, what resources do you use when you are at the end of your strength? I think about the fact that I know that I can get further, that the finish line is going to be more beautiful (even if it's a training session, I mean the finish line is my house and my sofa 🤣) and "pain is ephemeral but proudness is eternal" and it is the truth for everything!
How have you progressed in cycling? Did you join a club, get a coach, make friends? I have progressed with the help of my coach and a little bit of motivation and discipline when I am not motivated to get out and bike under the rain or cold water. I have a coach since I have begun cycling so September 2019. When I am really not motivated I look at some Youtube videos about promotion for a race and I remember why am I doing this.
How do you define yourself today as a cyclist? I am still a baby cyclist, I have begun cyclism in September 2019. But I would say that I want to learn, to climb more and more mountain passes and I would never give up. In one word I would say: persistent.
Have you made any changes to your diet or lifestyle since you started cycling? No, I think I have a balanced lifestyle and it didn't change. I don't have any diet. I am just eating less and less meat for now but I am not a vegetarian. I would say that I have a balanced diet. And before and after a loooong ride I love eating pasta 🤤 For recuperation I also drink sometimes some electrolytes!
What does Wilma mean to you? Wilma inspires me the strength, women can go as fast and as far that they want.
What advice would you give to a woman who wants to start cycling? Never Give Up. Cyclism is such a beautiful sport where you can discover beautiful places, people and learn more about yourself and get stronger in every way.
What is the most beautiful spot where you have ridden? I would say the "Col de Vars" by "la Vallée de l'Ubaye" in the Alpes de Hautes Provence in France, a mountain pass with such a beautiful view!
Can you share with us the cycling memory that you enjoyed the most? The first time that I have climbed the Mont Ventoux. It was my dream for a long long time ago and thank's to Tristan (@peugeot_tristan) and his sports camp we went to Bedoin and climb the Ventoux. I climbed it on my own and I was so proud and so happy.
Can you tell us more about you, things you would like to share? Not about me, but at every woman that could read me, believe in you, you are capable of such wonderful things and to realize your biggest dreams, even if you think you don't. Never, never give up. You can. And you will.
When you go cycling in your area, do you have any nice refuel addresses to recommend to us? I would say to go cycle in the villages of Estaing, and went to the Aubrac and have a refuel in "La Maison de l'Aubrac".. their pastries are so yummy !!
