How We Make Things
All the clothing we design at Wilma is made to last as long as possible.
Troubleshooting
We’re identifying all the “pain points” for women’s cycling. We’re working on everything that isn’t “women-friendly” to create a product that perfectly suits women’s body types and physiology. For example: all our bib shorts have detachable straps, and all our shorts feature our Bloody Queen innovation Bloody Queen you can ride with complete peace of mind, even during your period.
The prototypes
We design various possible cuts, details, and finishes in-house that could solve existing problems. We then work with our factories (in France, Italy, or Portugal, depending on the product) to create prototypes of these ideas and have them tested (either in-house or by a few women in our community). Finally, for each prototype, we narrow it down to the best options until we’re left with just one!
Sustainability
We then test the durability of this prototype (sometimes we have several made from different materials). We select only materials manufactured in Europe (France or Italy) that have a minimum pilling score of 4/5. We have external labs conduct tests to ensure the material is fully resistant to friction. Until we are 100% satisfied, we do not launch the product. Doing what’s right for us and for the planet takes time.
Service life
We strive to ensure our products can accompany you for years on all your adventures, but they aren’t built to last forever. A fall, a scratch from a saddle bag, or any external factor can damage them. And for that, we have the solution! We partner with Good Loop, a technical textile repair shop founded by women! What could be better? So, if you have an issue with one of your products, you can send it back to them—they can fix just about anything.
